Ashton-under-Hill is situated in the Vale of Evesham, near the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire boundary. The Cricket Club was established in 1907. After a dispute over cattle the club split into two teams with Ashton Under Hill United formed. The two teams re-merged in 1910. During World War 1 the club lapsed, reforming in 1919. A lack of interest meant that the club folded in 1933, but restarted in 1948 at its present location on the village playing fields.
The present pavilion was built in 1990, with funds coming from a series of fund raising events including donkey derbies, a sponsered bed push and sponsered aerobics. A lottery grant in 1997 enabled the club to purchase practice nets, an artificial and the construction of sight screens and a score box.
We currently field two teams on a Saturday in the Cotswold Hills league, with the First XI in division 1 and the 2s in division 5. We also put out a team on Sunday and in the midweek. In 2009 we shall run junior teams, at the under 12, 14 & & 16 levels, with weekly kwik cricket sessions run for local children with the hope that these youngsters will go on to play for the club in the future.
